SAFEGUARDING & EARLY HELP

As a school we firmly believe that safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility, including parents, and we should support each other in making decisions when identifying and providing an appropriate response to concerns.

At Fullbrook we are committed to the following these safeguarding values and principles:

  • Collaborative – Practitioners and families are partners – we do things with people, not to them

  • Aspirational – We want the best for families and use positive language and measure success

  • Strengths-based – All families have strengths, and we focus on using strengths to support positive change

  • Purposeful – Our role is to meet child and family needs and give families the right support, first time

  • Empathic – We listen carefully to families and offer a helping hand to create change for children

  • Rights-based – Families have a right to help and support for their children, and the autonomy to make choices

Fullbrook Nursery School is an inclusive setting we prioritise the safeguarding of our children through a strong culture of accountability, knowledge, vigilance and professional curiosity for both adults and children.

We are made up of two settings under one Governing body;

  • Fullbrook Nursery School URN 104135

  • Little Explorers at Fullbrook Nursery School URN 2811085 (sperate EY Ofsted)

We will always maintain open and honest relationships with our parents and ask that our families do the same. Our door is always open, please come and speak to use should you have any safeguarding concerns about home, school or our local community.

Use your local Family Hub!

Family Hubs are welcoming centres where families with children (from pregnancy up to age 19, or 25 for those with additional needs) can get help and advice all in one place.

They offer:

  • Early years support – baby groups, parenting advice, infant feeding help

  • Health services – health visiting, mental health support, SEND advice

  • Practical help – housing, benefits, employment, and relationship support

  • Activities – play sessions, youth clubs, workshops, and community events

They’re designed to make it easier for families to find the right help, close to home, when they need it.

Our local Family is South and Central Family Hub

Address: Birchills Street, Walsall, WS2 8NF
Telephone: 01922 654545
Opening times: Monday to Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm

Please look to see what parenting support you can access and our newsletters will also contain their activity programmes.

Early Help

Early Help means getting support for your family as soon as challenges start, rather than waiting until things become serious.

It’s there to:

  • Spot concerns early – with your child’s learning, behaviour, health, or home life

  • Offer practical help – parenting advice, emotional support, or help with money, housing, and relationships

  • Work together – bringing you, your child, and services (like school, health, and community groups) into one plan

  • Prevent bigger problems – so your child can feel safe, healthy, and able to thrive

It’s about the right help, at the right time, from people who listen and understand.

Our School’s Early Help Offer

At our school, Early Help means working with you to spot and respond to any worries early. This might be concerning your child’s learning, behaviour, health, or family circumstances. We can offer friendly advice, link you to local services, and work alongside other professionals to give your child and family the right support at the right time. We run a programme of parent workshops over the and can offer a range of parent leaflets. We are always available for a conversation to offer you support and strategies to support your child’s development across the curriculum. No question or concern is seen as trivial or judgemental.

Sometimes, as a school, we are not always able to offer the support you might need, therefore we will seek your consent to refer your Early Help Locality Team to be supported by the Families First Offer.
